White Buffalo Summer

White Buffalo Summer

During our summer travels, we learned of the birth of a rare white buffalo calf in Yellowstone National Park. Not only are alabaster buffalo exceedingly rare, they are sacred to many Indigenous communities.

White Buffalo Calf Woman

These stunningly beautiful creatures are tied to legendary characters like the woman captured by our Buffalo Collection artist in this inspiring painting. White Buffalo Calf Woman is a sacred woman of supernatural origin, central to the Lakota religion as the primary cultural prophet. Oral traditions relate that she brought the "Seven Sacred Rites" and the Sacred Chanupa (pipe) to the Lakota People.

Here, she is depicted as a beautiful spirit wearing a buffalo robe. Behind her head is the Medicine Wheel which represents all four colors of man and the four directions. The original painting and limited edition canvas prints are available in our showroom, or you can call us at (480) 946-3903 to order.
